What is an ICD?

This animated video was created as part of a PCORI funded study regarding delivery of patient decision aids for patients considering an implantable cardio defibrillator. The intent is to help patients understand what an ICD is and how it works while delivering information in an unbiased non-threatening manner. Visual choices to soften the appearance with shallow depth of field and white backgrounds with subtle color application help put the viewer at ease while considering this very serious and life changing surgery. This study is ongoing and is lead by Dan Matlock, MD and his team at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.
